Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, met the Dubai Police Wheelchair Basketball Team, who achieved first place in the 10th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, the largest event of its kind held annually during the month of Ramadan under the slogan " Limitless Abilities."

Al Marri commended the efforts of the Dubai Police sports teams, which have resulted in multiple championships, and congratulated the team on their achievement. He emphasised the force’s support for its athletes, aiming to achieve honourable results that add to the history of the Dubai Police.

Al Marri added that Dubai Police have a specialised system to support sports and athletes within the force, offering programmes, facilities, and work systems that help them pursue their hobbies and participate in local and international championships.

Captain Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Head of the Council for the Empowerment of People of Determination at Dubai Police, expressed his happiness with the remarkable achievement, highlighting that the Dubai Police team are the first team to win gold in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament.

The 'Innovation Race'

The Dubai Police Innovation Council has begun assessing the final entries for the "Innovation Race" initiative, aimed at attracting innovative ideas based on modern technology to enhance security and safety of Dubai. The expert judging panel is discussing creative ideas and proposals submitted by participants from various nationalities.

Colonel Dr Ibrahim Bin Saba Al Marri, Chairman of the Dubai Police Innovation Council, confirmed that the first edition of the "Innovation Race" this year received 76 ideas in the field of modern technology. The committee selected 26 ideas for discussion in the first phase of the evaluation after meeting specific criteria and race conditions.

He added that the 26 ideas were evaluated in the second phase to determine their applicability, with 12 chosen for the final evaluation, which aims to select the top 3 innovations that contribute to enhancing security and safety. The three winning innovations will be honoured at a special ceremony on the 26th of this month, with winners receiving cash prizes.

Colonel Dr Ibrahim Bin Saba Al Marri explained that the "Innovation Race" challenge revolves around the following themes for participants: smart cities, transportation and mobility, safety and security, specifically in the fields of artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics.
