300 cyclists take part in Masfout Mountain Bike Challenge

The Ajman Department of Tourism Development successfully concluded on Sunday the Masfout Mountain Bike Challenge which took place between the mountains of Masfout with the participation of hundreds of athletes from all segments, and in collaboration with Endurance Sports Services.

The challenge aimed to promote the touristic assets of Masfout. This mountainous region is considered a popular tourist attraction in Ajman.

The organization of the Masfout Mountain Bike Challenge comes as part of the Ajman Tourism’s strategy to promote the rich touristic assets of the Masfout area, regularly stimulating the role of sports in the community, spreading the culture of wellbeing and to staying active, and establishing sports as an ideal lifestyle for individuals, in addition to diversifying the tourism assets of Ajman and promoting its touristic areas.

By organizing the Masfout Mountain Bike Challenge, Ajman Tourism also aims to highlight Masfout as a distinguished destination for sports tourism and underlining its position on the local and international tourism map, as this region is considered as Ajman’s hidden gem and is known among the locals for its high elevation in comparison with other surrounding cities, its famous rocky mountains that produce high-quality marble, and its picturesque natural sceneries suitable for picnics and family gatherings.

300 athletes, amateurs, and enthusiasts of mountain biking participated in the challenge, and the winners of the 34.5 KM and 23 KM from the Emiratis, newbies, and open categories were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Tourism, stated that the Masfout Mountain Bike Challenge is writing a new chapter of distinctiveness and success, and stressed on Ajman Tourism’s interest in the emirate’s cultural and leisure destinations, and in boosting its position as a diversified location that attracts tourists; in addition to shedding light on the unique tourism advantages of Masfout that contribute to an increased activity across all of the emirate’s sectors.

Hashmi added that the department gives a great importance to the motorbike sports due to its growing popularity that boosts the growth of both the sports and economic activities in the emirate.
