With the aim of enhancing the level of performance of female athletes and hone their skills ahead of the new sports season, an archery team from the Sharjah Women's Sports Club is taking part in the Uzbekistan International Archery Championship.

The Uzbekistan International Archery Championship began on Monday and will conclude on Saturday.

Three players, including Fatima Mohammed Rashid, Aisha Jassim Al Ali and Maha Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, are taking part in the championship following their participation in the recently concluded fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, held in Konya, Turkey, where the players participated with the national team in the singles, teams and doubles competitions.

Aisha said taking part in the Uzbekistan International Archery Championship would provide an opportunity to compete alongside top players, interact with them and gain valuable experience.

"Like other players, we also share the common goal of giving our best shot and securing as many medals as possible by the end of the championship.

"Representing Sharjah Women's Sports Club in this competitive tournament is an honor and a source of pride, especially in light of the fact that we recently concluded our participation on behalf of the nation in a significant event of the Islamic Solidarity Games, in which 56 countries took part. There is no doubt that the gained experience increases an athlete's chances of winning medals by clinching top spots on the podium," Aisha added.

Hind Al Hosani, Deputy Director General of Sharjah Women's Sports Club, stressed the importance of implementing the technical plans and recommendations received from the concerned departments to prepare female athletes in various sports.

She also hailed the great efforts and unlimited support provided by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Sharjah Women’s Sports.

Hind also praised the prominent role played by Sharjah Women’s Sports in the process of establishing a strong base of promising female players, who can represent the club or the nation in all sporting forums and competitions.
