The UAE Polo Federation announced on Wednesday the launch of the 1st Youth Polo Tournament in the UAE under the federation, which is set to become a fixture of the UAE polo calendar.

The tournament will be played in its inaugural year over two days: day 1 on February 17 at Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club starting at 4 pm, and the final on February 19 at the Habtoor Polo Resort and Club starting at 3 pm. It is open to all to attend with their families and friends.

Children from both genders under the age of 15 will compete in the tournament. The four participating teams include players from the UAE, Argentina, the United Kingdom and Germany.

Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of the UAE Polo Federation, said: “I am excited for the UAE and its Polo Federation to be hosting the first polo tournament under the federation. We are committed to promoting polo to all ages and this is just the first step.

“Participating in official tournaments is integral to any player’s development. Our hope is to introduce polo to our youth from a young age and create the excitement about the sport.

“As the governing body of the sport in the UAE, we will continue to grow the sport of polo in Emirates, in line with our government’s vision for a healthier and happier society,” added Mohammed Khalaf.
