With participation of 103 players, the J4 Fujairah ITF Junior Tournament kicked off on Monday at the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club (FTCC).

Great Britain’s rising star, Freddie Ridout, who won the J4 Isa Town title last year, is the top seed at the tournament. He is currently ranked 229th in the world.

Leyla Nilufer Elmas of Turkey, who is ranked 219, is also among the big names the tournament has attracted.

The final of the event will take place on Saturday.

The UAE's Omar Ahmadi and Saud Al Jasmi will compete in the doubles competition.

There is a slight increase in the participation compared to the previous editions of the competition, as the organisers received a total of 120 entries, out of which 103 were selected.

Abdul Ghafour Behrozian, Chairman of Fujairah Tennis and Country Club (FTCC), welcomed the players taking part in the event.

Recently, the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club hosted the ITF’s West Asia Fujairah Cup.

"I believe we have accomplished a lot in a short period of time, and tennis is becoming a popular sport in Fujairah."

"This event, as well as future ones, will assist in raising the profile of Fujairah on a global scale," added Behrozian.

Hania Reggi, Marketing and Sales Manager of FTCC, said: "We believe there is a lot of excitement surrounding this junior's tournament, and such events provide an excellent platform for upcoming players to showcase their abilities."
