Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club hosted a signing ceremony and welcomed International Free Zone Authority as its official season sponsor for the second year.
The sponsorship deal covers IFZA's presence at the Club during several well-awaited tournaments such as the UAE National Day Cup 2021, the Sir Winston Churchill Cup 2021, series of AHPRC Leagues and the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2022.
Present at the signing ceremony were Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor, Vice Chairman and CEO of Al Habtoor Group and IFZA Chairman Martin G Pedersen. Alongside the sponsorship deal, IFZA will have several hospitality events at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort hotel during the season.
Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor said: "We are honoured to receive the confidence of International Free Zone Authority, Martin Pedersen and the whole IFZA team through this sponsorship. We recognize the value of cultivating partnerships that support our position as the leading source of polo and other equestrian sporting events in the UAE. The continued support of IFZA will open another avenue to showcase the sport to a wider audience."
Pedersen stated, “It is IFZA’s long term vision and commitment to contribute to the growth of Dubai – not just economy-wise, but more importantly, in the wider sense of this being a world-class city to live in. Polo and other sporting events are important platforms for us to prove our commitment as they allow us to gather people from different backgrounds in a common experience that champions the spirit of excellence.
“We have seen this first-hand during our first year as official sponsor of the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club polo season, where thousands of guests from our local and international network experienced Dubai beyond business.
“It was a natural decision for us to continue our collaboration with Mohammed Al Habtoor and Rashid Al Habtoor, particularly in their efforts to contribute to the experiences that Dubai offers during the time of Expo 2020,” he added.
The club’s polo calendar runs from October 29 until April 29, 2022 comprising low, medium and high goal tournaments coupled with special exhibition matches – the Ladies Charity Cup 2021 for the benefit of Al Jalila Foundation and the Expo 2020 Dubai Cup in association with Expo 2020 Dubai.
