Gaining worldwide recognition, the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club was declared as hosts for 45th World Chess Solving Championship, scheduled to take place next year.

World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC) is an annual competition in the solving of chess problems organised by the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC).

Besides the World Chess Solving Championship, the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club will also host 64th World Congress of Chess Composition, and the fourth Fujairah Endurance International Blitz Championship.

The Fujairah Chess and Culture Club was selected after winning the required votes at the 63rd World Congress of Chess Composition held in Rhodes, Greece.

Majority of members voted for Fujairah at the general assembly meeting.

All the three prestigious events will take place between November 12 to 19 at the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club.

Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, who has been hosting a number of events, submitted the proposal which was approved overwhelmingly by the members.

Fujairah Chess and Culture Club board of directors dedicate the historic achievement for wise leadership of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Muhammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Sheikh Saleh Nin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Chairman of Fujairah Department of Industry and Economy.

The board members also hailed them for unlimited support, which contributed to reaching global levels and gaining the rights to host 45th World Chess Solving Championship and 64th World Congress of Chess Composition.

Harry Fougiaxis, President of World Federation for Chess Composition, and members of the federation were present on the occasion.

UAE will be the first Arab country in the Middle East to organize the World Chess Solving Championship and to host a general assembly, as it has never been held before.

Fujairah hosted part of two championships in the years 2019 and 2020, while it is the first time that the tournament will be hosted in all categories plus the general assembly.

Dr. Adbulla AAL Barket said: “The unlimited support and generous care of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of the Fujairah, supported us in gaining the confidence of the members of the general assembly.

“The members praised Fujairah’s distinguished infrastructure and the expertise that the club team enjoys from, during the organization of several prestigious tournaments which helped the club to gain the full votes.”

Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi said: Winning the bid to host the World Chess Solving Championship will give valuable benefits to Emirati players.

He stressed that this would not have been achieved without the support of their Highnesses Sheikh's and the achievements of the club’s players at the global level.
