Former pacer S. Sreesanth urged the Indian cricket team to win the 2021 T20 World Cup for captain Virat Kohli this time around.

Kohli has announced to step down from the captaincy of the India’s Twenty20 team after the World Cup after failing to lift any major title during his stint at the helm.

“I want to request Indian cricket team to give more than their 100 per cent and claim the prestigious title for their captain Kohli, who will relinquished the captaincy after the showpiece event,” said Sreesanth, who was speaking on the sidelines of the screening of "Haq Se India" in Dubai.

"Haq Se India" is a documentary, produced by Gaurav Bahirvani and Jaideep Pandya to commemorate the unsung heroes of the Indian cricket in one of the most unforgettable upsets in the history.

A new–look and young Indian cricket team had stunned the sporting fraternity across the globe by lifting the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, beating Pakistan in 2007 under MS Dhoni.

The Indian team, which lifted the trophy, did not feature stalwart cricketers likes Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.

The movie showcases the interviews of the players, who were the part of the historic moment. As they recalled their experience and shared it on the screen ahead of the 2021 World Cup.

“It was important for me to give people a deeper look into what truly happened behind the scenes of such an incredible moment in sport.

“In fact, it’s a story that’s never been truly told on the silver screen, and to have all the key players band together to be a part of the film highlights both the camaraderie of the game, and the importance of keeping stories alive, especially for the younger generation of fans” said Bahirvani.

“I wish India team to win the World Cup so that we can see Haq Se India-2. And this time around, I will request the producers to make a biopic not only documentary,” he added.

Sreeanth was the man who took the historic catch of Pakistan’s Misbah-ul Haq as India bagged the trophy.

The legendary cricketer told about his memories of that historic day, his glorious catch, and what it was like reliving the moment through a camera lens 14 years later.

“It was an epic experience watching the movie in all its glory in front of a room full of cricket fans! Reliving the struggle and victory on screen, reminded me how blessed we were to win then and continue winning through the love of all our supporters.”
