19 UAE boxers line up for ASBC's Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships
Al Shebly said the team camp started in June, and 38 boxers were selected from all emirates for phase one.
After the completion of the second qualification round for the ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships, scheduled to be held in Le Meridien Dubai from Aug.20-30, the technical staff of the UAE National Boxing Team have selected 19 boxers to represent the UAE in the showpiece event.
The closed camp for the selection of the candidates started in June under coach Mohammed Misbeh Al Shebly at the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, in which 38 boxers were chosen from all emirates for phase one.
After the first qualification round, 25 were selected. By the end of the second round, the number further reduced to 19, comprised of 15 male and 4 female participants.
Shebly stated that training at our closed camp will continue until Sunday in Abu Dhabi, and we will hold friendly competitions with foreign boxers from UAE clubs. The Bahraini team also arrived in the country and joined our camp. We will hold the next friendly competition on Sunday with boxers from a Dubai club, and we will head to Dubai on the same day to conclude the last phase of preparations.
