Injured Pakistan all-rounder Afridi ruled out of PSL matches to be held in Abu Dhabi

Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the Pakistan’s Super League (PSL) due to an injury, it was announced by his franchise Lahore Qalandars via a tweet on Monday.

“We regret to inform you that due to a lower back injury, our superstar, icon, & an integral part of the franchise, @SAfridiOfficial will miss out on the remainder of @thePSLt20. The Sultans family will miss you and we are praying for your speedy recovery,” was tweeted by Multan Sultan.

The remaining matches of the PSL, which was suspended mid-way after a few players tested positive for coronavirus, will be held in Abu Dhabi in June.

The charismatic all-rounder is a big crowd–puller and one of the best loved adored Pakistani cricketer there has ever been.

Afridi was disappointed as he announced his withdrawal from the league after being advised a complete rest.

“While training for the remainder of the PSL matches to be held in Abu Dhabi, I felt lower back pain and had to consult a doctor,” tweeted Afridi.

“Unfortunately, I have been advised to rest and can no longer accompany my team @MultanSultans.

“I am heartbroken.. Broken heart as I was practicing and training really hard,” he added.

He also tweeted his picture of undergoing an MRI. Afridi is one of the most devastating batsmen and held the record for the fastest ODI century for almost two decades.
