Continental Cricket Club, Dubai Rangers post wins in BS Super League

Continental Cricket Club defeated Azmari by 19 runs in the opening match of the seventh edition of the BS Super League played at the MCC ground in Ajman.

Batting first after winning the toss, Continental Cricket Club scored 154 for the loss of seven wickets from the allotted 20 overs.

After losing their openers cheaply, they built their innings around Iqrar Ahmed and Faraz Ali. They both shared a 70-run partnership to revive Continental Cricket Club’s innings. Ahmed scored 27 off 27 balls while Faraz smashed 43 off 34 balls studded with six boundaries.  Arjun Subramanyam hit unbeaten 24 and Pankaj Mamani added 20.

Later, they restricted Azmari to 135/8 to start their campaign with win. Kashif Khan (43) and Ali Karim (16) were their top scorers. Continental Cricket Club’s Faraz was named as man of the match.

Riding high on Taha Ahmed Khan’s all-round performance, Pitchers Dubai beat Pitch Armours by 64 runs.

Pitchers Dubai posted 173 for the loss of six wickets. They were off to perfect start with their skipper Kamran and Rishi Nair put up a 40-run stand.

Taha and Anand Mathew took to the crease and smashed Pitch Armours bowlers all over the ground. They both hit 44 runs each to help their team put up a challenging target.

In reply, Pitch Armours suffered a disastrous start as their openers were returned to the dressing room with just 14 runs on the board.

Except Sarmad Khan, who waged a lone battle with 40, none of their other batsmen could measure up to the guiles of Taha and Mathew. Finally, Pitch Armours innings were ended at 109.

Taha and Mathew shared two wickets each.  

Dubai Rangers registered the biggest win of the opening day of the tournament after thrashing C3 Coaches Club by 10 wickets.

Pralav Dhyani took three wickets for 11 runs and Anderson Cabral claimed two as Dubai Rangers restricted C3 Coaches Club to 100.

Later, Rohan Sharma hit quick-fire 50 and Lalit Lakhiani scored unbeaten 24 as Dubai Rangers chased down the target in 7.5 overs. Their victory was also aided by 27 extra runs were leaked by C3 Coaches Club. In another match, Blue XI thumped Spartan CC by seven wickets.
