Sharjah played out a goalless draw with Al Wasl at Sharjah Stadium in the first leg of Arabian Gulf Cup (AGC) quarter-final, which is held under the name of "Mohammed Bin Rashid," in celebration of the 15th anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as the head of the UAE Government.

The King looked more dangerous in the first half, however, they failed to pose enough threat on Al Wasl’s goal as both teams headed into the break with a 0-0 draw.

Al Wasl almost snatched a late win, but Sharjah keeper Darwish Mohammad pulled off two fine saves to deny Waleed Al Hamadi and Haboush Saleh in they dying minutes of the game, as the match ended in a goalless draw.

Both teams will be fighting for a spot in the semi-final when they clash in the second leg set to be held on Jan.26 at Zabeel Stadium.

Earlier, Fujairah came from behind to play out a 1-1 draw with Al Nasr at Al Maktoum Stadium.

The hosts got off to a quick start and were already 1-0 up after two minutes only, when a defensive error saw the ball fall to Toze on the edge of the box and the Portuguese midfielder fired home to break the deadlock.

The guests eventually found the back of the net seven minutes after the restart. Firas Ben Larbi exchanged the ball with Kristiano Armenteros who tapped into the empty net to make it 1-1.
