The Egyptian Football Association have confirmed Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has again tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.

The Egyptian Football Association, the governing body for soccer, said a medical swab taken from the 28-year-old came back again as positive on Wednesday.

This comes as a jolt for English Premier League champions Liverpool as it means Salah will miss Sunday's clash against Leicester City.

Salah, who initially tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, has missed Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo on Saturday and Tuesday.

“Today, Mohamed Salah, the star of the national team and the English club Liverpool, made a new swab to detect the Covid-19 virus, but its result was positive," a statement from the Egyptian Football Association said.

Liverpool were already dealing with an injury crisis before Salah's positive test last week. Key centre-half Virgil van Dijk is already set to miss most of the season after undergoing knee surgery, while manager Jurgen Klopp is also without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Thiago and Jordan Henderson are all doubtful for Sunday's game at Anfield.
