BD Community Dubai defeated BD Community Sharjah 3-2 in the final of a friendly football tournament, which was organized to mark the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dubai.

The tournament was organized by Bangladesh Consulate General along with the host of other fun filled activities for the Bangladeshi community living in the UAE.

The match was held at Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai. Around ten thousand Bangladeshi expatriates from different emirates of the UAE were present at the stadium to enjoy the football match.

To celebrate the historic occassion and countdown of Mujib Year, Bangladesh Consulate General, arranged a number of programs on Friday.

The official programme started at 3pm at Bangabandhu Corner of the Consulate General with live screening of the inauguration of Countdown of Mujib Year in Dhaka by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Officials of the Consulate led by Mohd Iqbal Hussain Khan, Consul General laid down flower wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh community members in the UAE also laid down flower wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation. Discussion meeting start with recitation from the Holy Quran. Messages from the Hon’ble President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the Homecoming Day and countdown of Mujib Year were read out before the audience.

A special documentary on the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation was screened. Hussain Khan and eminent community members spoke on the significance of the Homecoming Day and countdown of Mujib Year. Officials of the Consulate, their family members and Bangladesh community members attended the programmes.
