Ahmad siblings team dominate New Year’s Eve scramble event

Winners pose after their victories in respective categories during the New Year’s Eve Scramble event.

The Faldo course was in excellent condition to host Emirates Golf Club’s final event of the decade – the New Year’s Eve Scramble 2019.

The winning team of Raj Janardhan, Chandru Manghnani, Afzal Ahmad and Arbaaz Ahmad fired a superb score of 56.9 (-15.1). Their round included a gross front nine of 29, with the teams only bogey coming on the tough 18th hole.

In second place was Manish Bakshi, Sachin Mahajan, Auyush Bakshi and Vikas Sachar with a score of 60.7. They just pipped the team of Frank Duggan, Maura Duggan, Najla Bartette and Pascal Bartette who finished third with a score of 60.8.

As well as the Texas Scramble, there were a variety of on course events up for grabs. In the gents nearest the pins on holes 2 and 17, Nick Kehoe and Amit Kockar were the respective winners. While in the ladies nearest pins on holes 8 and 12 Anne Bouigue and Ingrid Lind were victorious.

The final on course events were the longest drives on hole 16 for ladies, which Naema Maya won, and on hole 5 for men where Hugo Garcia was victorious.

After the prize presentation Joe Way, Emirates Golf Clubs Assistant Golf Services Manager, commented; “Thank you to everyone who took part this afternoon and enjoyed their last game of 2019 with us. Congratulations to the winning team and I hope everyone enjoys their celebrations tonight. Happy New Year!”

Emirates Golf Club Emirates Golf Club, annual host of the European Tour Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, was the first all grass championship golf course in the Middle East when it opened in 1988.

The Majlis course has been presented with numerous accolades over its 30 year history, the most recent of which was its 2018 ranking by Golf Digest in the ‘World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses’ and  its award for Number 1 Course in the Middle East.
