The most exciting new star to arrive on the ATP Tour in recent years, Stefanos Tsitsipas, is ready to make his second bid for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title.
Novak Djokovic saved three match points before defeating Gael Monfils 2-6, 7-6 (10/8), 6-1 to reach the Dubai Championships final on Friday, describing his victory as “an amazing escape”.
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday to set up a Dubai Championships semi-final against Dan Evans.
“To all my friends in Dubai and the UAE, this is a really difficult moment and we need to take care of us and others as well,” said Figo.
“It was a great relief to see him deliver last start after the trouble he’d encountered at his previous two,” said trainer James Cummings.
The Premier League has been postponed until at least April 30 because of the pandemic and it is feared the season will be delayed again when English football’s stakeholders meet to discuss the crisis on Friday.
