Students strike a pose with Australian Men’s Sevens team.

Victoria International School of Sharjah (VISS) students were given a unique opportunity to meet the Australian women’s team ahead of their campaign at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens.

The VISS students were introduced to the star players thanks to Rugby Australia and the Australian Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai.

The meet and greet, which was hosted at The Sevens Stadium and was attended by Justin McGowan, Australia’s Commissioner General to Expo 2020 Dubai, kick-started Australia’s sports diplomacy agenda ahead of next year’s showpiece event in the emirate.

The players talked to the students about health, wellbeing and diversity, whilst encouraging youngsters in the UAE to keep fit and active.

VISS also hosted the Australian Men’s Sevens team on the school grounds ahead of the tournament where students and staff had the opportunity to watch the team train.
