Bouncing back from the previous match defeat, Chemietech registered an easy eight-wicket victory over Karwan Strikers in a BS Super Star T20 tournament match played at the Eden Gardens Ajman.

After winning the toss, Karwan Strikers elected to bat first. The decision proved disastrous as they lost their opener Saqib for nought, with just one run on the board. In-from batsmen Abdul Shakoor who came in next, also faltered, returning to the dressing room after scoring nine runs. Both Saqib and Shakoor were removed by Hafeezur Rehman.

Chemietech’s Imtiaz Ahmad was introduced into the attack and with his lethal pace attack, he sent Karwan Strikers’ next two batsmen, including Jahandad Khan and Fayyaz Ahmed, back to the pavilion. Karwan Strikers lost two more wickets in quick succession and were struggling at 52-6.

Rehman and Imtiaz shared three wickets each as Karwan Strikers’ innings folded at 114. Waheed Ahmad (36) and Arsalan J (12) were their top scorers.

In reply, Ashfaq Ahmad smashed 59 off 34 balls studded with two boundaries and equal number of sixes, and Mohammed Sami hit an unbeaten 35, as Chemietech overhauled the target in 14.2 overs. Ashfaq was named as man of the match.

Gaurav Uppal, tournament director, said: “I myself am a passionate cricketer, so I’m committed to providing quality cricket tournaments on turf wicket and grass ground in the UAE. Under the name of BS Cricket League we have conducted more than 22 tournaments in the past 12 months.”

“Through this tournament, many players are being groomed to excel in national, and regional competitions,” he added.
