The consulate said on Twitter, "AI1196 from Dubai to Srinagar carrying 153 passengers including pregnant women, senior citizens, stranded visitors landed at Srinagar airport few hours ago. Happy to assist.”
The initiative aims to enable residents who work in the private sector and wish to return to their home countries to do so during the period of precautionary measures undertaken in the UAE to contain the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
The flights are open to foreign citizens who wish to leave the UAE, but no incoming passengers are allowed. Foreign residents are banned from re-entering until at least mid-April.
Airport Show Dubai, the world’s largest annual airport industry B2B platform, has been rescheduled. The show was originally slated to take place in June, however, the organisers have announced that now it will take place from October 26-28 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, DWTC.
Passengers will be required to apply social distancing guidelines during their journey and wear their own masks when at the airport and on board the aircraft. Travellers should arrive at Dubai International airport Terminal 3 for check-in, three hours before departure.
"Passengers on today's flight to Tunisia were all tested for COVID-19 (respiratory disease) before departing from Dubai," the airline said in a statement. "Emirates is the first airline to conduct on-site rapid COVID-19 tests for passengers."
Those who wish to travel to Johannesburg, Lagos, and Tunis must contact the respective embassy or consulate for these countries in the UAE. For all other flights, passengers can book directly on emirates website (select the "one-way" option when booking), or via their travel agent.
The PIA has reduced its special flights’ fares by 20 to 30 per cent, extending maximum relief to the nationals stranded in the UAE due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The authorities said the conditions and procedures would be announced later in light of the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the UAE to curb the spread of Covid-19.
