King Salman told Arab monarchs, presidents and prime ministers at the meeting that his country "absolutely rejects" any measures affecting Syria's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Arab officials said the summit would be dominated by the Golan Heights and Palestinian demands for an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, areas also occupied by Israel in the 1967 war.
Al Assaf made the comments at a preparatory meeting of foreign ministers of the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), ahead of a trio of summits in the Holy City of Makkah.
His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, is leading the UAE official delegation to the 30th Arab League Summit, starting in the Tunisian capital on Sunday.
Abbas says that he told Israel and the US that "there will be no relations with them, including the security ties" following the deal that Palestinians say heavily favours Israel.
"The Palestinian cause is a central issue for the Arab and Islamic nations," Al Hammadi added, condemning all Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, and any actions by the Israeli occupation forces aimed at altering the legal status or demographic composition of East Jerusalem
The head of the Arab League (AL) has blamed Israel for the escalation of violence in the Palestinian territories, warning that Israeli policies would blow up the situation in Jerusalem. Pakistan’s prime minister has denounced Israel’s use of force against Palestinians during Ramadan.
Prior to the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed said, “We need a strong start for the fifth decade of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s march... Our people are looking forward to economic and development integration... Our people are looking for real and deep cooperation... Our people are waiting from our meetings in Riyadh for the results of transforming all our cities into growth, prosperity and progress.”
