The food shipment falls within the framework of the $3 billion (Dhs11 billion) Saudi Arabia-UAE joint aid package to support Sudan’s economic and financial stability, announced in April 2019.
In April 2019, the UAE and Saudi Arabia announced their commitment to providing 540,000 tonnes of wheat to enhance food security in Sudan. Last month, both countries shipped two batches of wheat totalling 140,000 tonnes.

As part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the health sector in various countries to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, the United Arab Emirates today sent an aid plane containing 12.4 metric tons of medical supplies to Jordan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed that the UAE seeks to provide various possible support in such situations to affirm solidarity with all brotherly and friendly countries in crises that require concerted efforts to mitigate their effects.
The medical aid includes basic supplies used to maintain the precautionary and preventive measures aimed at confronting the coronavirus pandemic, assist front-line medical staff and support their efforts to contain the virus in Syria, Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi said.
