The body of a two-year old boy trapped 26-metres (85-feet) down a well in southern India for more than three days was recovered on Tuesday, authorities said.
The family stated that the boy somehow managed to climb a chair and get close to the window. While looking down the boy lost his balance and fell off the building and died on spot.
The Abu Dhabi Police are calling upon all parents to provide a safe and risk-free environment for their children, in order to prevent recurrence of incidents of children accidentally falling off buildings.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the child was playing football with his brother in the balcony.
The girl’s father is in India at the moment and was expected to arrive in the UAE for tomorrow’s funeral.
The deceased tried to photograph herself standing on a chair which she put on the edge of the balcony barrier of the apartment on the 17th floor.
Abu Dhabi Police called real estate institutions that supervise residential buildings to pay attention on increasing the fencing and window barriers.
The girl died on spot due to her injuries after the fatal fall.
Preliminary investigations showed that the girl, who was living with her family in the emirate, was a student in a UAE school and fell from the 8th floor while she was in the balcony of her apartment.
