The Cabinet approved the cancellation of the decision regarding the validity of residency visas for expatriates, who are in or outside the country and if their visas expired between March 1 and 31, 2020.
The authority’s decision is part of the national initiatives launched by the UAE and is in implementation of the UAE Cabinet’s related decisions and regulations of entry and residency of foreigners.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his appreciation for the efforts of medical, nursing and administrative staff across the UAE, which have been key to containing the spread of COVID-19 and providing the highest level of healthcare to patients.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued instructions extending tourist visas for one month without government fees, to address the difficulties faced
The move is an implementation of the UAE Cabinet resolution, under which work permits for Golden Residency holders were created. The Human Resources Ministry stated that such work permits are required in three cases.
All government departments have been directed to facilitate the measures for all UAE tourists and visitors in consideration of the ongoing global circumstances, and to cooperate with all authorities concerned to ensure the comfort and safety of all UAE's visitors.
The initiative aims to enable residents who work in the private sector and wish to return to their home countries to do so during the period of precautionary measures undertaken in the UAE to contain the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
