“Around nine million overseas Pakistanis are the country’s asset,” the premier said at a ceremony held to launch the "Sohni Dharti Remittance Programme (SDRP)" – a move aimed at encouraging the use of formal channels.
Imran said that Saudi Arabia has always extended generous support to Pakistan in its difficult times. "The latest generous gesture by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirms the all-weather friendship between the two states,” he added.
At the end of his speech, Imran said that he appeals to Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari to bring back half of the money they have looted over the past 30 years and he would half the prices of the essential commodities.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also directed to establish special sections and desks in 34 sub-departments of 13 ministries for the facilitation of overseas Pakistanis.
