The prime minister termed the signing of performance agreements a step in the right direction, and said the performance of each ministry will be evaluated based on the contracts and every ministry will put pressure on itself to meet its targets.
The prime minister expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the current local governments and said a system was being introduced at the village level under which funds would be transferred directly to the councils.
Imran said the opposition parties have been blackmailing the government since day one to grant them amnesty. He said that the NRO given to the opposition by Pervez Musharraf had had disastrous effects on Pakistan, leading to an increase in debt liabilities.
According to Prime Minister Office, the portfolio of finance minister has been given to Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh while Azam Khan Sawati appointed as railways minister and Brigadier (read) Ijaz Ahmad Shah as minister for narcotics control.
Addressing a ceremony in Gwadar on Monday, the prime minister said several projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would bring prosperity and development to the province. Imran said "Pakistan can benefit from its strategic location and also from the expertise of its best friend China.”
Imran said that the launch of the electric motorcycle was a futuristic step and that the government’s new policy on electric vehicles sets a roadmap and sets the direction for the future. Apart from reducing pollution, the PM said, the electric vehicle sector would generate employment opportunities too.
On his twitter handle, the prime minister apparently referred to the upcoming monsoon tree plantation drive in the country under his government’s much ambitious Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project and Green and Clean Pakistan initiative.
Imran also said that Pakistan only wants peace and don't want to be part of any confrontation and urged the US should first establish a political settlement before leaving Afghanistan. "Pakistan suffered 70,000 casualties, more than any other country by joining the American war..."
Speaking on the occasion, Imran Khan said through Ehsaas Bachat Bank Account, the women will be able to better utilise the cash assistance being given to them under Ehsaas Programme.
The prime minister personally drove the vehicle setting aside the protocol. He visited the modular carts placed in G-11 Markaz under Ehsaas Programme’s Rerhi Baan initiative. He questioned the cart owners about the position of their businesses.
