The UAE government thanked the media bodies and institutions in the nation, for the distinguished coverage on the successful launch of The Emirates Mars Mission – Hope Probe. It is the first interplanetary mission undertaken by any Arab nation.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has said that 'Hope Probe' exemplifies the distinctive strategic partnership between the UAE and Japan.
The Hope Probe has so far covered nearly one-third of the total distance in its historical journey to the Red Planet, since it was launched to Mars around two months ago. The probe is 321,520,536 kilometres away from Mars out of 493 million kilometres before it reaches its destination in the first quarter of 2021 concurrently with the UAE celebrations of its golden jubilee.
The UAE’s space programmes, especially the successful launch of its Mars Mission, will give a fillip to Asia’s lead in the fourth Industrial revolution and make the Emirates “a big stakeholder in the development of developing countries across the globe,” a senior academic told Emirates News Agency, WAM.
Event to take place virtually online at 9pm UAE time on August 5; among the top five finalists are: 24-year-old Dolly Aswani from India, 14-year-old Ward Taim Hassa from Syria and 11-year-old Reina Özbay from the USA.
The manoeuvre ensures that the orbiter is moving in the right direction towards Mars.
