Most of my colleagues have always given me modish looks with a smile when I hop into the office saying I am tiptop, sharp. My mum always asks if the attire I wear is something new or tailored.
We live in an era where it seems everyone is chasing the next fitness trend.
One day, it is cutting sugar; the next, building muscles or following a diet that promises quick weight loss.
I have enjoyed maintaining my weight loss for eight years without feeling deprived or making detriments that take away from life’s pleasures. I don’t go to the gymnasium and hang in there because I want to look muscular.
My goal is simply to stay fit, feel good and enjoy life.
During my eventful work schedule, I take time out after work heading to one of my favourite spots for workouts and then head home.
Fitness, too, has become a fashion statement. There was a time when being skinny was the ideal; today, building muscle seems to be the aspiration.
Instead of chasing quick fixes and comparing ourselves with others, why not find a routine we can sustain? Walk a few miles, jog if you enjoy it, eat balanced meals and listen to your body. Health is not about following trends or achieving the perfect body. It is about consistency, balance and enjoying the journey.
