A road accident in Kenya involving several vehicles that killed 17 pilgrims travelling to a Catholic shrine early on Saturday is deeply sad (“Road accident kills 17 travelling to shrine in Kenya,” Oct.4, Gulf Today website).
Kenya is comparatively safer when it comes to road accidents, but records from the recent past show an increase in road accidents in the country, with reportedly 4,000 to 5,000 deaths annually.
The Kenyan government should address the issue of increasing road accidents and take concrete measures to strengthen road and transport facilities and make them safer for travellers.
