Peace must prevail

The cowardly suicide terrorist attack in which more than 16 people were killed in northwestern Pakistan on Friday is highly condemnable (“Suicide attack kills 16 near mosque in northwest Pakistan police compound,” Sept.18, Gulf Today website).

According to the report, at least 16 people were killed and 57 wounded after a suicide attacker rammed an explosives-laden car into a police facility in northwest Pakistan on Friday as officers and their families were praying in a mosque inside, officials said. Five police officers were among the dead after the vehicle smashed into the outer wall and gunmen who accompanied it opened fire in the city of Kohat, provincial police chief Zulfikar Hameed said.

It is so unfortunate that a nation that has sacrificed more than 100,000 precious human lives in the fight against terrorism in Pakistan has once again become the target of terrorists who are killing innocent people on a daily basis.

The civilian government should take action against the terrorist groups in Pakistan that are involved in killing innocent people.

It is time to unite and fight against the rising threat of terrorism in the country. I am sure that the people of Pakistan and its armed forces are fully capable of eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country.
