Ray of hope

After more than four years of war between Russia and Ukraine, Russian President Putin’s order to halt attacks on Kyiv for 72 hours due to the visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Ukraine is a ray of hope for peace (“Putin orders 72-hour pause in strikes on Kyiv as US envoys visit Russia and Ukraine,” Sept.5, Gulf Today website).

The world is facing enormous challenges nowadays, and the biggest challenge is global warming. Climate change has slowly and gradually gripped the world with its calamities. The deaths of a huge number of precious human lives in many parts of the world are frequently making headlines in print and social media worldwide.

Scorching heat, heavy rain, forest fires, and floods caused by climate change in many parts of the world are claiming numerous innocent lives and costing countries enormous economic losses.

In a time of chaos, the news that Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a halt to attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv has brought hope for many.

I hope the sense of peace will prevail. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s visits to Russia and Ukraine will bring fruitful results in the shape of lasting peace between the warring countries, which will not only benefit the people of Russia and Ukraine but also the whole world.
