It’s a good decision taken by the Pakistani authorities to allow more than 700 trucks carrying international humanitarian aid, which reportedly reached Afghanistan via Pakistan despite the near-total closure of the land border between the two countries following clashes in October (“More than 700 humanitarian aid trucks enter Afghanistan from Pakistan,” Aug.16, Gulf Today website).
Despite the fact that Pakistan and Afghanistan have deadly disputes that need to be addressed and resolved, Afghanistan remains Pakistan’s brotherly country.
Pakistan and Afghanistan share almost the same culture, way of life, and a long border. In this time of hardship, Afghan brothers and sisters need help. Pakistan, as a big brother, should wholeheartedly help Afghanistan, no matter how serious the dispute between the two countries may be.
I hope that a sense of peace will prevail. Pakistan played a huge role in bringing peace to Afghanistan during the conflict between the US and the Taliban.
The leadership of the Afghan government should realise this fact and resolve the disputed issues with Pakistan, which will bring peace and stability to both countries.
It is important to resolve the outstanding disputes between the two countries so that trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan can resume, benefiting both countries and improving the living standards of their people.
