Kerala rains

It’s that time of the year again where Kerala, known for its beauty and greenery, is affected badly due to the torrential rains. This makes us evoke the time in year 2018 when many lost their lives when the rain triggered many districts houses that were flooded. As per the weather forecast we are expecting more rains in Kerala over the coming days.

Schools, universities and institutes have been shut as commuting has come to a standstill and many workers this time are finding it a tough time to make both ends meet. Many areas have been affected due to the waterlogging with a few lives lost and many homeless.

While rescue teams are doing their best, the immediate need on the ground is massive. Affected areas urgently require clean drinking water, dry food packets, medicines, and safe temporary shelters. Furthermore, authorities must speed up the repair of damaged bridges and blocked roads to help rescue operations reach remote villages.

The unpredicted rains have really disrupted the life of the people in Kerala. I am shattered to watch the news where many homes were buried under landslides, some old age people being lifted and most of the areas look like rivers overflowing.

Praying for peace and comfort for all those who are going through this turmoil and hoping things get back to normalcy especially with Onam just around the corner.
