Sad news

The painful news of the recent Emirates Road crash, in which reportedly seven people lost their lives and nine others were injured, made for a very sad morning (“7 dead, 9 injured in Emirates Road crash, Dubai Police issue safety warning,” June9, Gulf Today website).

Such tragic incidents remind us how precious life is and how important road safety remains for everyone using our highways. According to reports, the accident occurred when a minibus collided with a truck that had stopped in the middle of the road. While the exact circumstances will be determined by the authorities, the tragedy highlights the need for greater caution and vigilance from all drivers.

The road infrastructure and traffic management system in the UAE are among the best in the region. The Road and Transport Authority continuously educates motorists about traffic rules and safety measures designed to protect lives.

Unfortunately, some drivers ignore these regulations or take safety facilities for granted. Every road user has a responsibility to drive carefully, remain alert, and follow traffic laws.
