The entire world is going gung-ho on artificial intelligence research. Many countries and corporations are planning to pump billions of dollars into AI projects.
However, these organisations should be clear on three points: First, that concrete results that will ensue from spending billions of dollars on AI research.
Second, do these countries and organisations have ready and trained manpower resources to conduct such basic research in a new area?
Finally, will the results of AI research really benefit mankind or will they reduce blue-and white-collar jobs and create unemployment and misery? All this needs to be studied.
Perhaps the world would be better off if these billions of dollars were spent on building factories to create more skills and jobs. As the wise say, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
