Yesterday, I met my old friend Hafiz Faisal Saeed, a Pakistani-origin former UAE resident and now a Canadian national, who is visiting Dubai with his brother to attend the Gulfood event. Faisal spent nearly 17 years in Dubai with his family, working as a chartered accountant and building a life filled with memories.
During his years in Al Awir, he developed a close bond with an elderly family friend who struggled tirelessly for the future of his children. After Faisal migrated to Canada, life’s demands caused them to lose contact for almost 15 years. On this visit, he expressed a heartfelt desire to reconnect, considering it the most precious gift he could receive in Dubai.
After hours of searching, fate smiled upon him when a local shopkeeper helped locate the elderly friend’s contact number. Their reunion, though over the phone, brought immense joy and emotion.
This touching moment reminds us that true wealth lies in remembering those who shared our struggles, regardless of time or distance.
