Although the World Economic Forum in Davos is regarded as one of the most important gatherings of global leaders, this year an unusual detail has captured public attention. Instead of serious discussions on the world economy, French President Emmanuel Macron’s sunglasses became the talk of the town. While such light moments may amuse the public, they also reflect how easily the real purpose of such forums can be overshadowed by trivial matters.
At a time when the world is facing dangerous conflicts, deepening divisions and rising discrimination among nations, global leaders must focus their energies on what truly matters. Peace, more than anything else, is the foundation on which economic growth and social stability are built. Without peace, no nation can prosper, and no economy can truly flourish. The World Economic Forum provides a rare opportunity for leaders to rise above political differences and work together for the common good.
I sincerely hope that wisdom will prevail and that world leaders will place peace at the centre of their discussions. Only through dialogue, understanding and cooperation can the world move towards lasting prosperity and a safer future for all.
