After watching series of episodes due to the ruckus taking place at the Indian Airports the recent turmoil of IndiGo delays has turned out many passengers into a tug of war with revolt and losing their calm.
Over the past several days, passengers across major airports have found themselves stranded for hours, some even days as flights were abruptly cancelled or pushed into the early hours of the morning and what’s worst to see protesting in the airport. Some have paid a lot of money and despite being checked in, they are notified at the boarding gate that flights have cancelled. To make matters worse for other passengers who wish to book with other Indian airlines the ticket rates have been increased.
The tragic experience has been emotionally draining for many passengers who are seen lying down on the floor. A family travelling with a young child defined waiting through multiple rolling delays with no clear communication, surviving on minimal updates with no hope.
Another passenger, attempting a late-night hop between two metro cities, saw his flight repeatedly rescheduled until he finally gave up exhausted, frustrated and financially strained. These disruptions are more than minor travel hassles. Air travel is ultimately a promise that people will reach the places and moments that matter.
Currently travelling is seen to be a real hassle unlike the past. It's about time that the airlines restore the trust and renewed commitment to treating passengers as people, not numbers on a departure board.
