It was one of an epic Semi-final clash between the World Champion team Australia vs India during the second Semi-final clash between them in the ongoing World Cup Tournament in India.
Having allowed the Aussies to score 338, it was definitely a Herculean task to chase the target, that too against the champion bowlers. However, there was some determination among our Women in Blue, which was led by the ever smiling Jamimah Rodrigues.
She played a gem of an innings, similar to the unbeaten 175 of legendary Kapil Dev, who bailed out team during the World Cup in 1983 and went on to win the Trophy. Though we were unfortunate to miss the live telecast of Kapil innings, we could enjoy the vintage cricket of Jamimah.
She stitched valuable partnerships with our Captain Harmanpreet Kaur followed by Deepti Sharma, Richa Gosh and Amanjot to pip the Aussies at the post.
The Aussies were downed by the ever smiling assassin. In fact, she was on her tows for almost the entire day, playing 97 overs and ensured that there was no hiccup in our chase and accomplish the mission with her constant thumps up.
Well done Women in Blue. Keep up this tempo and determination during the finals and lift our maiden World Cup. Girls, you can!
