Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to highlight the importance of sports in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. In today’s fast-paced world, where people spend long hours sitting in front of screens and have little time for physical activity, sports have become more essential than ever.
Sports not only help in keeping our body fit and strong but also play a vital role in improving mental health. Regular participation in sports boosts stamina, enhances flexibility, and strengthens the immune system. It also helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by releasing endorphins, the “feel-good” hormones. Moreover, sports teach teamwork, discipline, and leadership — qualities that are valuable in every walk of life.
Unfortunately, many people, especially the younger generation, are drifting away from outdoor games and spending more time on mobile phones and video games. Schools, parents, and communities must encourage children to take part in sports and physical activities regularly.
