It was unfortunate that despite the heroics of Richa Ghosh, who stitched valuable partnerships with Amanjot and Gaud to set a reasonable target of 252 against the South African women, we could not win the match in Vizag.
It was a real see-saw match for both the teams. At one time, our Indian team were in a good position at 83 for 1 in 17 overs. But soon they tumbled down to 102 for 6.
Thanks to Richa’s valuable 94 which went in vain. Similar was the case of South African women, who too were reeling at five for 81 in 20 overs.
Then came the valuable partnerships of their Captain Wolvart and De Klrk and then with Tryon, which enabled them to pip our team at the post.
If we have to win against better teams like Australia, New Zealand and England, then it is the captain and vice-captain who have to strike gold, lest it could be another disappointing World Cup outing. Buck up Women in Blue!
