President Trump wants India to stop buying Russian oil. India ceasing to buy Russian oil is not going to impact President Putin’s Ukraine strategy, even a wee bit. His key goal is to keep Ukraine out of NATO and the European community. So, selling oil to India is not a crucial element in his war-plan.
Perhaps President Trump is miffed with India, for not doffing its hat to him, for his role in averting aggravation of the India-Pakistan war. India should be pragmatic and thank him for his initiatives. There is no harm or loss of face in this. Peace is very precious and we should be grateful to anybody who helps to preserve it.
