This refers to the retirement call of our real warrior in cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara, from international cricket.
It was a misfortune that our selectors did not recognise his calm composure and courage; the backbone of Indian Test cricket, who stood like a wall, was forced to bow out of the game.
Though he stated that “I leave with no regrets,” in reality it may not be so.
Of course, he is not an isolated case in Indian cricket, as stalwarts like Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, R. Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and even King Kohli had to abruptly call it quits, due to various reasons.
After the retirement of our Wall, Rahul Dravid, Pujara successfully held on to his post and scripted many victories.
He was the backbone of many victories, especially the back to back series victories against Australia, that too in their own den. But he is another “unsung hero” of Indian cricket like Rahul Dravid.
Anyway, he has taken the right decision at the right time as he has no place in the Indian Test cricket team, where even King Kohli has no place.
We are confident that he would be as successful as his Test cricket in his next endeavours.
We wish him a peaceful retired life.
