Wonderful day

India celebrated its 79th Independence Day this Friday. It was a great day for us. Indians in India and elsewhere celebrated the day with great excitement. I also celebrated Aug.15 with patriotic fervour by visiting the Indian Consulate Dubai with my family early in the morning to become part of the flag-hoisting ceremony. I have been visiting the Indian Consulate for almost 20 years to celebrate Independence and Republic Day. It gives me an opportunity to meet my fellow Indians. I always make sure to take my children with me. It is very important that children should know the history of India and they should know the importance of freedom.

Children are the future of tomorrow and they should know the importance of this day once they grow up because they are the true ambassadors of India. Like every year, this year too the Consul General of India in Dubai hoisted the National Flag, later he addressed the gathering. Finally, cultural programmes lifted the spirit of the audience and made us nostalgic.
