A lucky era we live in where it's easier than ever to connect with others — through our phones, computers, tablets and social media. Yet, many of us still feel more disconnected than ever before.
Society today seems to be growing more bolted off, with people shutting their doors not just literally, but emotionally and mentally too leading to division, misunderstanding, and a lack of peace among us.
Unlike the past you share your issues it ends up in such a manner that it spreads like gossips adding more theater to it. Even within families or close communities, open conversations are becoming rare. Differences in opinion quickly turn into arguments, and instead of trying to cope up each other, people often stride away or shut others out.
In many countries, fear of people who are different whether because of their culture, religion, or background — is rising. Immigrants and minority groups are sometimes treated unfairly, judged before anyone takes time to know them. The creation of echo chambers, where people hear only what they already believe, and other voices are overlooked.
When we listen without judging, we create space for understanding and learn and acquire acquaintance. We don’t have to agree with everyone, but we can choose to reverence different views and practices. It’s also important to spend time together in real ways — not just online.
Together, we can break down the walls that rift us and create a world where we all feel at home and also a better place to live.
