Recently released Bollywood film “Saiyaara” has managed to charm the audiences worldwide. The film has collected over Rs100 crore in just four days — unprecedented for a film starring debutants in India. Everybody is talking about the film. The film has managed to attract Gen Z also. Debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have created magic on the screen and made history with their performances. The success of “Saiyaara” reminds me of 90s released film “Aashiqui” starring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. “Aashiqui” too had become an instant hit and Rahul Roy had become the heartthrob of India overnight.
In the same way, I feel Ahaan has made audiences gravitate towards him. Everybody is now taking about him. I must appreciate its director Mohit Suri for banking on debutants.
Mohit, known for giving great films like “Kalyug,” “Awarapan,” “Raaz,” “Aashiqui 2,” “Malang” and “Half Girlfriend,” has great records. Lately, audiences had stopped talking about the films, but with the release of “Sitaare Zameen Par” and “Saiyaara,” the old charm of Bollywood seems to be back.
