Health is wealth. We should revisit our habit of consuming junk food. I am writing to express my concern about the increasing consumption of junk food and its harmful effects on public health. Junk food, which is often high in sugar, salt, unhealthy fats, and artificial additives, is contributing to a serious rise in lifestyle diseases, especially among the youth.
There is no doubt that today’s lifestyle has led many to choose convenience over nutrition. However, the long-term consequences of regular junk food consumption include obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and even certain types of cancer. Children and teenagers are especially vulnerable, as they are easily influenced by trends.
Moreover, junk food provides little to no nutritional value. It may satisfy hunger temporarily, but it fails to support the body’s essential needs for growth, energy, and immune function. Replacing nutritious home-cooked meals with processed snacks and fast food undermines the overall well-being of our society.
There is nothing more precious than a healthy life. Cooking food by ourselves is full of fun and a healthy activity. I hope we will try our level best to minimise usage of junk food in daily life, and in the best interest of our health. Let us make conscious food choices for a healthier future. Health should never be compromised for convenience.
