It’s so shocking and sad that catastrophic floods in Texas claimed 70 precious lives including children (“21 children among 70 dead in Texas floods amid ongoing summer camp rescue effort,” July 6, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, Larry Leitha, the Kerr County Sheriff in Texas Hill Country, the epicentre of the flooding, said the death toll in Kerr County had reached 59, including the 21 children. Leitha said 11 girls and a counsellor remained missing from a summer camp near the Guadalupe River, which broke its banks after torrential rain fell in the central Texas area on Friday, the US Independence Day holiday.
The way the rescue workers put their lives in danger and saved many people who were trapped in Texas Hill Country is exemplary and deserves appreciation.
I am sure the local administration will not leave any stone unturned to complete the rescue operation with fruitful results. The government should provide complete treatment to injured people and compensate the families who lost their loved ones in the disastrous Texas floods.
