Disastrous heatwave

Europe, once famous for its chilling weather, is making burning headlines of baking in a heatwave because of disastrous climate change in the world which has no borders (“New fire threatens homes in Greece as Europe bakes in heatwave,” July 3, Gulf Today website).

According to the report, firefighters battled a blaze on Thursday on the island of Crete that scorched forests and olive groves and forced over 1,000 to evacuate, while a fresh conflagration near Athens threatened homes, highlighting Greece’s vulnerability to wildfire risks. Italy’s health ministry issued red alerts for 18 cities as temperatures were poised to soar as high as 38°C in major cities.

Climate change is gripping the world slowly and gradually which is a matter of serious concern. I know the world is facing numerous challenges, but it’s the need of the hour to take climate change seriously before it gets too late.
