It’s so sad that the recent flash floods and heavy rain in Pakistan have killed 64 people and injured 117 in a week (“64 perish in Pak floods, rain including 23 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” July 2, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, the highest toll was in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, with 23 dead including 10 children, the National Disaster Management Authority said.
The loss of a number of precious lives in the monsoon season in Pakistan is a matter of serious concern. There is no doubt that heavy rain and flooding are due to climate change but the civilian government should do the needful before the monsoon season to save lives of its people.
