It was a wonderful day for South Africa. They finally lifted WTC Championship on Saturday. They defeated mighty Australia by five wickets. South Africa joined New Zealand and Australia as WTC Champions. I was very happy for Temba Bavuma and his team. Temba led his team from the front and got this trophy for his country, which was due for a very long time. South Africa was doing very well for a very long time but for some reasons they failed to get through finals many a times. That's why they were referred by some as “chokers.” This time the entire team played very good cricket and kept their focus on the goal.
One of the finest batters of the world cricket, Aiden Markram, played a very good innings and made a century in the second innings. He kept the hope alive for his team. He did not give mighty Australia an inch with his perfect. On the other hand Kagiso Rabada led his bowling department and did not allow Australia to put huge total as expected.
He was at his best throughout the match. Another pacer Lungi Ngidi also played very good cricket. It must have been a dream come true for South Africa. They lifted the ICC trophy after 27 years. It was a very long wait for them, but I feel this South African team has the potential to become world champion across all format.
